Building & Roof Surveys

Drone Photography for Buildings & Roof Surveys

Using a drone to survey a roof is a very cost effective and safe way of solving a potential high rise problem. No need to risk someone’s life on a high ladder. No need to hire scaffolding that can be prohibitively expensive and take an age to arrive. No need to hire a cherry picker.

What does a drone roof survey cost?

Drone roof surveys will normally range from £125 + and are competitively priced costs by Man with a Drone

Types of drone roof surveys

High resolution images of a problem area – is the top of the chimney pot missing? Is there a birds nest clogging up the guttering? Is there a loose tile?
> High quality video of a problem area – HD 1080p or 4K UHD.
> High resolution images or high quality video of the roof as a whole.

What type of images or videos can the drone produce?

The drone will shoot high resolution images or videos – the latter being either HD 1080p or 4K UHD – and the consumer or expert can then determine the type of problem or condition of the roof accurately.

> Images are normally 12 – 21mp. Multiple images can be produced quickly.
> Videos are HD 1080p or 4K UHD – the drone will normally shoot 20 – 30 individual videos and these are sent either separately or as an edited video to the client. Music, description and branding can be added. Frame-rates are altered to suit the conditions.

Differences between HD and 4K

4K UHD (ultra high definition) has a considerably higher resolution rate than HD (1080p HD). 4K resolution is exactly 3840 x 2160 pixels whilst 1080p is 1920 x 1080 pixels. Consequently videos shot at 4K will be sharper than those shot in 1080p HD – but the consumer will need better PC equipment to be able to play 4K UHD.

Advantages of using a drone for a roof survey

> No need for scaffolding – this can quite often cost £1000s and take a while to arrive leaving the consumer with the continuing problem.
> No need to hire a cherry picker – this can cost even more and again it can take some time.
> No need to risk someone’s life on a high ladder.
> Using a drone the job can be completed quickly (within days).
> The consumer also gets their results quickly – in a matter of days rather than potentially weeks or months.

Why use Man with a Drone?

As technology improves, drones are becoming more widely available and as such the consumer will be faced with a wide range of options, services and prices. It is important to hire a commercially trained remote drone pilot, like Man with a Drone, who will have a commercial licence, insurance and the skill to provide the best quality results whilst maintaining the appropriate safety rules (including the CAA Dronecode).

At Man with a Drone we always pitch our price at the lower end of the pricing in order to be competitive. Although we are based in West Sussex we are happy to travel anywhere – East Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire, the London area – in fact anywhere in the UK.

What is the process?

Contact Man with a Drone on 07875 956290 – we will arrange a time to visit the property and complete the work, subject to any safety requirements and permissions. Images are normally sent to the customer on the same day – with videos sent a couple of days later once they are completed (as these take a little longer).

All for the most competitive pricing in the drone market!
